Week 6: Girl Fight Comics
This week we were given a warning regarding the about the sexually explicit nature and mature content in the comics we could select from. I was automatically driven to the comic Girl Fight, as i was intrigued by the feminist themes and strong female protagonists. Although t was interesting to see how graphic novels were when attempting to push the boundaries of what was acceptable, I wasn't too impressed by the story or art style in this specific comic. The story was very random at times and the feminism was a little too on the nose for me. I can understand that at the time this sort of comic was very far from the norm when it came of portraying women, however nowadays, it just doesn't feel that empowering. still very interesting however, to see how the concept of 'empowering women in media' has changed over time.
