1. What is your reaction to the text you just read?
I honestly really enjoyed this comic. I haven't read many super hero comics, but i like the dark sinister approach to batman. This particular text also offered a lengthy series of flashbacks into the jokers backstory that i found really interesting. I wasn't aware of his previous life before all the crime, and couldn't help but sympathize a little for him. I also really enjoyed the art and drawing style of this comic. 

2. What connections did you make with the story? Discuss the elements of the story with which you are able to connect.
The first thing I attempted to connect this text to was all the previous ways have seen batman and these characters depicted. My favourite depiction of batman and his universe is definitely the darker take, as seen in the Dark Knight movie, and the Arkham City video game. This text fits into this dark style that i prefer.

3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you use? What changes would you make?
I really enjoyed this comic and would love to see it transformed into another medium. I would really have it focus on the back story of the joker. I found his determination in making a better life for him and his wife was really interesting, and showed a side to the joker that I had never known before. I would enjoy seeing this comic as a movie, but not necessarily a live action. As mentioned before, I am a big fan of the dark, linear art style and would enjoy seeing an animated movie similar to new spider man movie but with a darker tone.

Week 5: Last Day in Vietnam This is definitely an interesting read. I started out so light hearted, and already within the first few pages i could feel the tone shifting to a dark and sinister place. This was probably my favorite read so far from the recommended books. I really enjoyed the the first person perspective that was depicted in this comic. I had never read a comic that had done that before. It provided a different perspective to the dark stories that originated from the Vietnam war, and gave the events more gravity, making them feel more personal. Being from Europe, our coverage on the history of the Vietnam war was brief (I can image in American schools its discussed a lot more), and it was therefore interesting to experience it in a more narrative fashion. Week 10

Week 10: Yaoi Cinderella Boy Chapter 1. This week i read Yaoi Cinderella Boy Chapter 1. This comic amused me. I have heard of yaoi before but never read any. I thought it was rather funny when my roommates walked by and caught me reading it, and as i tried to begin explaining that it was for class, i realized how much of a made up excuse that sounded like. The story was very far fetched on honestly really hard to follow. There was so much going on visually that i wasn't quit sure what order the panels flowed in at some points. And no matter how hard i tried to understand the main character and her secret life, i just kept being pulled out of the story because couldn't stand the art style. This is just my personal taste, but i find it really hard to enjoy mangas (and anime) as I'm not that much of a fan of the art style. I love old fashioned manga like ghost in the shell, but i honestly thought this was hideous. Still an entertaining read though!

Week 14

Week 14: Megg and Mogg This week i read the comic Megg and Mogg. I didn't have enough time to finish this one all the way through but i was really into it. It was funny and felt very much in line with the humor of young adults today. It gave me a lot of 'Adult Swim' vibes, which i found amusing. I loved the owl character, and enjoyed the dynamic between all the characters. Although the art style was rough and looked almost like is was done with crayons, i really liked it and thought it fit well with the tone of the story. As i was reading this comic, i thought it was interesting how much the style of writing and drawing has changed from some of the first comics i read in this class in comparison to this one. I really enjoyed Megg and Mogg however, and will most likely finish it later this week.
